Washington, D.C. is filled with animal loving inhabitants, many of which would jump at a chance to bring their special family members to work with them. If you’re one of those pet lovers, here are few work places in the DC area where you actually bring your dog to work. These are the dog-friendliest companies the district has to offer.

In order to do this, she knew her team would have to work smart and hard, and she knew her team would have families. Squires expects her team to be at its best, while still being able to spend time with loved ones. In an effort to make the office culture less corporate, she decided to try out a bring your dog to work program, and now employees may bring their dogs to work every day. This goes well with one of the company’s community outreach recipients, HART For Animals.

When you think of American Hiking Society, you might just think of a group of people who like to get together and hike trails. Tthe society is much more than that, it works to protect and preserve trails, as well as provide volunteer opportunities for those who want to get involved. Not only may you bring your dog on hikes with you, if you work for the American Hiking Society you may bring your dog to work with you.

Google is both a leader in technology and office culture. Few companies come close to providing such a unique, productive, relaxing and fun working environment. Many aspire to work for the company just to be apart of that famous culture. And part of that is the ability to bring your dog to work as long as it’s vaccinated and licensed. The company has even labeled itself “dog people,” including a statement in its code of conduct that stresses the importance of dogs in the company culture.

Data processing, management and analysis isn’t for everyone, but if you enjoy it and dogs, Empower IT, Inc. might be the place for you. The company offers several benefits to employees, including and interesting take on Casual Friday. From Monday to Thursday the owner brings a dog to work, and on Friday employees are allowed to bring their dogs. To prevent potential fighting, the company does try to keep the amount of dogs in the office to a reasonable level.

The Humane Society

As “the nation’s largest and most effective animal protection organization,” the Humane Society had to find a way to allow dogs in its offices. In 2007, after proper planning, it made that dream a reality. Proving that they take it seriously, there is an application process and probation period. Once the application is approved, including the necessary vaccinations, employees may look forward to bringing their special family member to work with them.
