This is DC’s most popular festival of the year, where locals and tourists head to the tidal basin to admire the 3,000 cherry blossom trees in our nation’s capitol. There are cherry blossom walking tours, a cherry blossom festival parade, a kite festival and more. Local restaurants will also be featuring cherry blossom food, drink, and dessert specials.

This annual festival takes place in downtown Bethesda. There are books for sale, book signing opportunities with well-known authors, poetry readings, and discussion groups. Kids will love the children’s story time. Take a look at the event website for a complete schedule of discussions and book signings. Awards will also be given out to winners of the festival’s short story and poetry contests. Bethesda has plenty of restaurants and coffee shops to grab a bite while you enjoy the Bethesda Literary Festival.

This beautiful festival includes floral displays, flowers and plants for sale, and vendors selling gardening tools, gifts and horticulture goods. There will be a tea room offering sit-down tea service, as well as vendors selling baked goods and snacks. Children will love the puppeteers, carousel and rides. The profits from the event will benefit the gardens around the cathedral. Parking will likely be difficult, so using public transportation is recommended. This is a great festival to enjoy with your mother over Mother’s Day weekend!

Arts and crafts aficionados will love this festival. There will be artisans selling pottery, jewelry, photography, sculptures, and more. In addition, there will be arts and craft demonstrations, live music, and gourmet food available for purchase. Learn how to throw pottery or spin metal. Over two hundred artisans will be showcasing their work, so be sure to plan to be there all day!

During the day this festival will include live entertainment, while at night guests will enjoy a beautiful fireworks display. The live entertainment will feature everything from jazz, to blues, to funk. There will also be cultural performances from Latin American singers and Asian dance groups. See the event page for information about times and locations of performances, as there will be three different stages. The fireworks are scheduled to begin at 8:30pm, over the water. Food trucks and other food vendors will be in abundance. This festival is great for the whole family.
