Art is a broad term for a creative expression that can speak so precisely and intimately to matters of the heart and mind. Things that are often difficult to verbalize are sometimes best expressed through art. These upcoming art walks offer a wide variety of mediums to enjoy.

Date: March 21-28, 2015

This is a regional juried show where you can experience a broad range of artistic mediums. Created by East City Art, Emulsion 2015 brings artists of all kinds–located within a 50-mile radius of East City Art’s Capitol Hill headquarters–together under one roof to be judged by an art expert. That expert is Adah Rose Bitterbaum, owner and director of the Adah Rose Gallery in Maryland. DC’s Gallery O on H, situated within the center of the Atlas entertainment district, will host the exhibition. The competition will award cash prizes for the top three artistic works: $1,250 for first place, $750 for second and $500 for third. Two People’s Choice awards will also be conferred.

ArtWalk is the perfect event for art lovers, collectors and enthusiasts. This 3K walking tour carries you through seven buildings of art at the Maryland Institute College of Art’s Mount Royal Avenue campus where you’ll experience the works of close to 400 of the country’s most talented emerging artists in a near two-mile exhibition. Attendees will be able to meet and converse with artists as well as purchase their works. The entry fee includes a casual dinner and beverage.

Enjoy the original works of over 100 visual artists during this free monthly art walk. In a social atmosphere complete with light refreshments and music, attendees of the 2nd Saturday Art Walk will be able to immerse themselves in art exhibitions contained within seven studio buildings. They’ll also be able to meet and talk with the artists and purchase original works. The 2nd Saturday Art Walk makes for a fun date night or family night out and is sure to be an entertaining and enriching monthly event to add to your calendar.

2nd Friday Art Walk

Once a month and totally free of charge, the Colonial Beach area hosts a vibrant art walk, offering visitors and residents a chance to enjoy the artwork of local and regional artists. The art is dispersed near the Town Commons among local shops, B&Bs and restaurants, creating an engaging social atmosphere for both visitors and locals alike. Each location has brochures, maps and info regarding the walk. This year-round event is sponsored by the Colonial Beach Artists’ Guild whose goal is to “…bring more visual arts to the community and offer educational opportunities while sharing interests and having fun.” The art walk is said to attract visitors from the tri-state area, the Carolinas, and even as far as the United Kingdom and India.
