Bring the family out for a special ceremony that will include a recitation of the Declaration of Independence, performed by historic re-enactors along with other fun and informative events. Enjoy patriotic music as well as dozens of hands-on family-friendly activities for all ages to enjoy. Events will continue throughout the day, and exhibits will remain open until 5:30 p.m.

Another holiday highlight to check out is An American Celebration at George Washington’s Mount Vernon. An event held annually, this day-long celebration packs in a wide range of activities and events suited for the whole family. Meet notable historical figures, including General and Mrs. Washington along with militiamen, who will perform reenactments. Other highlights to take place include special made-for-daytime fireworks, a special wreath-laying ceremony and even free birthday cake while supplies last. Additionally, there will be a naturalization ceremony to welcome 100 new citizens and a live concert.
