Capitals Look to Get On A Roll With First Home Stand

The Capitals have their first home stand of the season this weekend, with consecutive home games against Pittsburgh and Edmonton at Capital One Arena Friday and Sunday.

Near the bottom of the Metropolitan division, the 8-7-1 Capitals could really use a home-ice advantage. Asked if it’s been difficult to find a rhythm without a home stand, Jay Beagle agreed agreed, it’s been a weird start to the schedule.

“It is kind of weird. We’ve been talking about it a little bit,” Beagle told The Sports Junkies earlier this week during his weekly segment — ‘The Morning Skate with Jay Beagle,’ sponsored by Sport Automotive. “It’s been like a sneaky tough schedule.”

“We haven’t really had a home stand where we can kind of get on a roll at home and play in front of the fans here,” he said. “So we’re looking forward to it. I mean, it’s always fun to play at home. The building’s always loud. It’s just way better when you’ve got home-ice advantage. You get last change. It makes things a lot easier. It’s a lot more fun, too, to be playing at home. We’re excited for the Pens and the Oilers.”

Perhaps we could see them really get on a roll after this weekend. The Caps head to Nashville and then Colorado next week. Afterwards, they return home for four straight, against Minnesota, Calgary, Ottawa and Tampa Bay.
