The Cavaliers are in Washington to face the Wizards, a marquee NBA matchup that warrants additional coverage ahead of the nationally televised ESPN game.

So Rachel Nichols filmed “The Jump” on location at Capital One Arena.

And it was right there on that court where Paul Pierce, an occasional co-host to Nichols on the program, hooked his former Wizards teammates by floating an idea that’s sure to gain traction.

LeBron James, 32, has an option after the 2017-18 season, which means he can opt out of the final year of his contract with Cleveland. So Nichols asked the question everyone in basketball has spent half a decade asking.

Nichols: Where’s LeBron gonna go in free agency?

Pierce: If it’s not Cleveland, it’ll be difficult to see him going out west, because the west is so tough, and the road to the Finals is not easy. Now, there’s one Eastern Conference team that I think he’s the best fit, and I believe it’s the Washington Wizards.

“Right here,” Nichols said, pointing to the Capital One Arena court beneath her feet.

“Right here,” Pierce said. “I mean, you have a young back court still, guys where LeBron doesn’t have to carry the load every night. You have a young small forward in Otto Porter. You can play LeBron at the four.”

“Could you imagine Bradley Beal, John Wall, LeBron James, Otto Porter with Gortat? That team would definitely win the East,” Pierce said. “It has experience. It has youth. It has everything you could want. So, hey. Who knows?”

“We’ll have to see,” Nichols said.

Yeah! I suppose we will!
