WASHINGTON — Kirk Cousins would probably be considered right on the fringe of being a mobile quarterback.
He’s no Cam Newton or Russell Wilson, nor is he even Aaron Rodgers. He has always been a capable and usually willing scrambler, and his career rushing numbers are worth acknowledging — 82 carries for 239 yards and nine touchdowns — but you watch him run and you don’t think “speedster.”
On a 4th-and-1 in the first quarter against the Kansas City Chiefs Monday night, Cousins took it himself and ran out to the left for a gain of several yards that extended the drive. It was a slick play and it reaffirmed his willingness to put his body on the line.
But later that same drive, Cousins kept it again on 3rd-and-goal and didn’t have quite the same luck.
Yikes. That spin move is not going on his career highlight reel. Maybe his blooper reel, but definitely not the highlight reel.
Washington then kicked a short field goal. At time of posting, Washington is up 10-0.
