WASHINGTON — The Capitals have re-signed right winger Tom Wilson, who was to become a restricted free agent, to a two-year contract valued at $4 million, the team announced.

The 22-year-old will be paid $1.75 million in 2016-17 and $2.25 million in 2017-18, per terms announced by the club.

Wilson, the 16th overall pick by Washington in 2012, recorded 23 points on seven goals and 16 assists — all career highs — last season with a +3 plus/minus. He played in all 82 games for the Capitals.

Wilson has 50 points (14 goals, 36 assists) in three seasons with the Capitals.
