WASHINGTON — With states of emergency declared in D.C., Maryland and Virginia ahead of a blizzard predicted to bring more than a foot of snow to the area, the Washington Capitals have adjusted the time of one game to be played this weekend.

The Capitals’ Friday, Jan. 22 game against the Anaheim Ducks — originally scheduled for 7 p.m. — will now be played earlier at 5:00 p.m.

The Capitals’ Sunday, Jan. 24 game against the Pittsburgh Penguins is currently to be played at 12:30 p.m., as originally scheduled, but the organization will be closely monitoring the weather and plans to notify via social media if any updates occur.

The Wizards have not issued any changes to their game scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 23 at 6:30 p.m. against the Utah Jazz, and Friday morning, they announced Saturday’s game is still on.

News of the adjusted game times comes after Metro announced it would be shutting down service to all stations from 11 p.m. on Friday until 11 p.m. on Sunday in expectation of the severe weather.
