WASHINGTON — Police are searching for the driver of a van they say struck and killed a pedestrian in District Heights, and then fled the scene.

Prince George’s County Police say they are looking for the driver of a gray or black full-size passenger van that may have front end damage.

Officers responded to the intersection of Pennsylvania Avenue and Silver Hill Road Monday night and found 39-year-old Roy Lee Dorsey Jr. in the roadway suffering from critical injuries. He was taken to a local hospital where he died a short time later.

Preliminary investigation reveals Dorsey was attempting to cross Pennsylvania Avenue when he was struck by the van. Police say the driver did not remain at the scene, and Dorsey was not in a crosswalk.
