WASHINGTON — Just days after a series of coordinated terrorist attacks by members of ISIS killed 129 people in Paris, a video was released suggesting the D.C. area could be next.
On Wednesday, local and federal law enforcement heads met to talk about where things stand regarding any imminent threats.
Paul Abbate, assistant director in Charge of the FBI’s Washington Field Office, tells WNEW that the Joint Terrorism Task Force was already on high alert even before the Paris attacks.
But despite the threats earlier this week, there’s no information suggesting an attack is imminent in our area, he adds.
“Things of that nature, both online and on television, have been pretty routinely issued,” Abbate says.
The “see something, say something” mantra is still in affect, but “we want everyone to be reassured that they can go about their daily lives.”
