ALEXANDRIA, Va. — A former Transportation Security Administration officer has been sentenced to 10 months in prison for stealing money, jewelry and other valuables from passengers’ luggage at Dulles International Airport.
Fifty-five-year-old Douglas DeWeese of Damascus, Maryland, was sentenced Friday in federal court in Alexandria, Virginia. He had pleaded guilty to theft of property in interstate commerce.
Prosecutors say DeWeese was responsible for inspecting checked bags at Dulles. Authorities say he stole valuables from the bags and took them to his home in Maryland.
