WASHINGTON — An Uber driver in California used pepper spray on a man after the passenger attacked him inside his car.

The driver, Edward Caban, captured the assault on his dashboard camera, CBS2/KCAL9 reports.

Caban says he picked up the man in Newport Beach, but the suspect didn’t know where he was going.

In the video, he tells the man he is drunk and too inebriated to give him directions and “the ride is over.”

But the man refuses to get out and can be seen slapping Caban, grabbing his head and banging it against the seat.

CBS2/KCAL9 says the man, 32-year-old Benjamin Golden, was arrested for assault on a taxi driver and public intoxication.

“There have been a lot of situations of late that have made me uncomfortable. That’s why I stopped driving [late] at night. But the scary thing is, this happened at the end of my day shift, at 8 o’clock,” Caban told CBS2/KCAL9.

Caban says Uber offers no training or guidance on how to handle unruly passengers and needs to do more.
