WASHINGTON — A Baltimore police officer guiding a funeral procession on a motorcycle was hit by a car and critically injured, authorities say.
Baltimore County police say the crash occurred as the procession headed north on Belair Road in Overlea on Tuesday afternoon. When a car turning left crossed into the path of the officer’s motorcycle, the two collided.
The officer was not identified, but Baltimore city police say the 15-year veteran of the department was guiding a procession for a city police officer who died while off duty last week. The procession was headed to Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens in Timonium.
The injured officer was taken to Shock Trauma, where county police say he is listed in critical condition. Police say the driver of the car was not hurt.
