WASHINGTON — A teacher for Fairfax County Public Schools has been arrested after being found in a parked car with a 16-year-old girl.

Michael A. Sweeney, 44, of Woodbridge, was arrested Sunday and charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Police say he and the girl were found in the parking lot in the 8800 block of Richmond Highway.

According to an online staff directory, there is a Michael A. Sweeney that teaches technology at Walt Whitman Middle School in Alexandria.

The girl found with Sweeney is from the Alexandria area of Fairfax County. Authorities have not said if she is a student at his school.

Detectives from the Child Exploitation Unit are investigating.
