WASHINGTON — More than 50,000 accounts registered on the cheating website Ashley Madison have D.C. addresses, according opinion-based infotainment site RoadSnacks.

The number represents about 13.1 percent of the city’s population, which is the fourth highest percentage in the country. RoadSnacks searched the website’s database for accounts registered to each zip code, and only three cities had a higher percentage of their population registered: Boston, Schenectady, N.Y. and New York City.

The information was obtained after Ashley Madison was hacked and user info was released in July. It was reported at the time that 37 million users were registered on the site.

Immediately following the District on the list is neighbor Arlington with about 15,500 accounts, or 9.3 percent of its population. Roanoke comes in at sixth, with 8.9 percent of its population potentially registered.

Several thousand accounts on Ashley Madison were registered to military and government email addresses, including 22 registered to D.C. government addresses.

Using a different methodology, Fusion reported in August that D.C. had the second-most paying users on the site. That report was compiled using credit card information, so non-paying members were not included.
