WASHINGTON — Anne Arundel County bad boys beware — county police are working with the television show “Cops.”
County police spokesman Justin Mulcahy tells The Capital Gazette that crews were following officers in the county, but did not discuss details about the time frame and locations of filming, citing safety concerns.
The department researched the filming process and had the county Office of Law look over the agreement before finalizing the deal, said Lt. Ryan Frashure, an agency spokesman.
Episodes featuring local footage could air this year or early next year, according to a spokesperson for California-based Langley Productions that produces the show.
There are currently more than 650 police officers in the department.
In 2013, the show moved to cable network Spike TV.
