WASHINGTON — A nearly hour-long police chase began in the District, made it’s way to Virginia and ended in Maryland during the afternoon rush-hour after reports of a shooting on the Suitland Parkway.

The chase began around 2 p.m. when a motorist approached U.S. Park Police officers on patrol on the Suitland Parkway and told them he had been shot at. Police noticed bullet holes in the car.

As the victim and police were talking, the victim pointed out the vehicle, a gold Lexus, and the suspect. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle, and a chase ensued when the vehicle failed to stop.

The chase continued onto Interstate 295, into Virginia and back into Prince George’s County, through D.C. again and finally stopped on I-295 in D.C., just north of the Beltway.

Police say during the pursuit, the suspect threw a gun out of the vehicle on the Wilson Bridge. Police were able to recover a firearm.

The suspect was taken into custody.

This is a developing story.
