WASHINGTON — Ten of the seventeen GOP presidential hopefuls have made the cut for the prime time debate airing on Fox News Thursday night.
“The Donald,” Jeb Bush, Gov. Scott Walker, Mike Huckabee, Ben Carson, Ted Cruz, Marco Rubio, Rand Paul, Chris Christie and John Kasich will all take the stage and no matter which party you favor, we’re sure it’s going to be an entertaining night.
It also happens to be the same night as Jon Stewart’s last time on “The Daily Show” and some D.C. bars are encouraging patrons to stick around to watch both.
Here’s a quick list of some D.C. watch parties:
899 O St. NW
The Network For Progress is hosting this mixer-slash-debate party-slash-screening of Jon Stewart’s final “Daily Show” episode. The mixer, which costs $5 online or $10 at the door, kicks off at 6:30 p.m.
1223 Connecticut Ave. NW
A young professionals happy hour hosted by the Republican Jewish Coalition starts at 6 p.m. at this Dupont Circle bar.
2333 18th St. NW
Several of D.C.’s Republican groups are gathering at the Mexican taqueria bar tonight to watch the debate on a projection screen and enjoy specials. You can also go early to watch the first debate with the lesser-coveted candidates. Stick around afterward to watch Jon Stewart’s last show.
National Press Club
529 14th St. NW
This event is sold out to non-members, but journos who belong to the club can enjoy food and drink specials while watching the debate on a large screen at the National Press Club’s Reliable Source Restaurant.
201 Massachusetts Ave. NE
PredictIt, which calls itself the “online stock market for politics,” is hosting a watch party with drinking games, bingo, a photo booth and happy hour specials. The event kicks off at 5:30 p.m.
Ventnor Sports Cafe
2411 18th St. NW
The upstairs bar at Ventnor’s will have a special themed menu with coktails including “Iced Tea Party” and “Redheaded Toupe.” Like the bar says, “With The Donald on live TV this has got to be good, right?”
