WASHINGTON — A youth minister in Montgomery County has been charged with sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl.
Montgomery County Police say 24-year-old Paolo Belarmino of Rockville was the youth group minister for the River of Life Church on Halpine Road.
Belarmino became close to the girl in February and by April had started a “dating relationship” with her, police say.
Police say Belarmino knew the girl was 13-years-old and initiated sexual activity with her on multiple occasions during the next few months. None of the incidents happened on church property.
On July 10, detectives arrested and charged Belarmino with sexual abuse of a minor, second-degree rape, second-degree sexual offense and third-degree sexual offense.
He was released on July 13.
Police are advising anyone else who believes they have been victimized by Belarmino to call the Special Victims Investigations Division at (240) 773-5400.
