WASHINGTON — The Washington Capitals have unveiled a new third jersey for the 2015-16 season.
The jersey is modeled after the team’s original red jersey and will be worn for select home games, according to the team.
The uniform is mainly red and resembles the team’s jersey worn from 1974-75 through 1994-95 season. The original Caps wordmark is featured on the front of the jersey with six stars above it and five stars beneath the numbers on each sleeve.
Team members will wear blue pants and red helmets with the third jerseys. The new third jersey will replace the white third jersey the Caps wore from 2011-12 to 2014-15.
The Caps’ third jerseys will be available for purchase in October.
