WASHINGTON — A man and two teenagers suspected of targeting victims on Craigslist and robbing them at gunpoint have been arrested in Prince George’s County.
Police say three people this month have reported being targeted after placing ads on Craigslist to sell their iPhones. In each case, the seller met up with someone claiming to be an interested buyer.
Instead, the men robbed the sellers at gunpoint. Police say a fourth person trying to buy a phone was robbed after meeting a potential seller through the app “Offer Up.” There were no reported injuries in any of the robberies.
Police have made arrests in three of the four robberies.
One suspect is 15-years-old. A second suspect is 26-year-old Alford Charles Wade III., of Bowie. Police say Wade robbed a man of his cellphone on Martin Luther King Junior Highway in Bowie on June 10.
Police also arrested 17-year-old Kemith Eugene Calvin, of Mitchellville. He is charged in connection with the armed robbery of a man trying to sell his cellphone on Friday, June 12 in the 800 block of Congressional Court in Bowie. He has been charged as an adult.
In each of these four cases, the transactions took place in the daytime. Police say all of the victims showed up by themselves.
