WASHINGTON — More than a year after her disappearance, a group of volunteer divers searched the Anacostia River for Relisha Rudd.
The dive team from New Jersey searched an area of Kenilworth Park and Aquactic Gardens in Northeast D.C. where a dog previously picked up a scent, The Washington Post reports.
Search organizer Brenda Brown said divers found some items on Saturday. Police have collected the items to investigate if any are connected to Relisha’s disappearance.
Relisha was 8-years-old when she went missing last spring. She was living at D.C. General homeless shelter with her mother and siblings.
The body of 51-year-old Kahlil Tatum, a janitor at the shelter, was found after he shot himself in Kenilworth Park. Police say he was the last person seen with Relisha.
