MORGANTOWN, W.V. (CBSDC)– A 94-year-old man is graduating from college next week after first enrolling over 75 years ago.

WLS reports that Anthony Brutto started taking classes at West Virginia University in 1939 when tuition was about $50 a year.

Brutto was almost done with his studies when he was drafted in 1942. He ended up serving in the military for the next three and a half years.

In 1946, Brutto returned to the school to get his degree but had to drop out to take care of his sick wife. The school says he spent his life working as a machinist at different factories until he retired in the mid-80s.

Brutto is to graduate with his Bachelor of Arts degree in May. He will be one of the oldest graduates in the history of West Virginia University.
