WASHINGTON (WNEW) – Hundreds of families showed up to the National Zoo on Monday as part of a tradition that’s more than a century old.

The sun was out at the zoo’s Easter Monday celebrations and its paths were filled with booths where children could learn about everything from electricity to gardening.

Young children also hunted Easter eggs, while older kids enjoyed field games.

The Easter Panda also made a special appearance.

Security was increased this year following an incident in which two teenagers were shot at last year’s event.
