WASHINGTON (WNEW) – A woman is seriously injured Tuesday afternoon after being struck by a vehicle in Montgomery County.
Montgomery Co. police say the accident happened on Germantown Rd. near Wisteria Dr. around 1:30 p.m.
The woman was transported to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Police say the driver of a 2001 Chrysler Sebring, identified as Monica Stubbing of Germantown, was traveling northbound on Germantown Rd. as the pedestrian was attempting to cross the street.
There was no marked crosswalk in the area.
Stubbing stayed at the scene.
Police are still investigating why Stubbing struck the pedestrian.
Police closed the eastbound direction of Germantown Rd. from Wisteria Dr. to Middlebrook. Westbound Germantown Rd. is open to traffic.
The pedestrian has not yet been identified.
