IJAMSVILLE, Md. — Four students at a western Maryland high school were rushed to the hospital after authorities say they overdosed on prescription drugs.

The Frederick County Sheriff’s Office says they responded to Oakdale High School in Ijamsville around 11 a.m. Wednesday after getting a call about students overdosing.

The sheriff’s office says five students, all girls, became ill after taking prescription medications supplied by a 15-year-old female student. Four of the students were taken to Frederick Memorial Hospital by ambulance and one was released to a parent.

Sheriff’s Deputy First Class Amanda Hatcher says the hospitalized students are conscious and alert, and are expected to survive. She says the prescription drugs they took include Ambien and Adderall.

Hatcher says charges are expected to be filed against the teen who brought the drugs.
