LANHAM, Md. (CBSDC) — Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III announced Thursday that he and his wife, Rebecca, are expecting a baby.

RGIII chose to make the announcement via social media, posting a photo of himself kissing his wife’s belly. It was also RGIII’s birthday.

Here are the five cutest baby announcements from athletes:

1. Robert Griffin III and wife Rebecca

A little RG4 may be on the way! RGIII posted a photo on his birthday to announce that he and his wife are expecting a baby.

The sex of the baby has not yet been announced.

2. Baltimore Raven’s Torrey Smith and wife Chanel

Smith married his longtime girlfriend, Chanel Williams, in July 2013. Then on September 30, 2013, Smith posted a photo on Twitter and Instagram to announce that his wife was pregnant. They were super creative, using Prego tomato sauce with “We’re” taped above it.

On April 4, 2014, Chanel gave birth to their first child, Torrey “TJ” Jeremiah.

3. Washington Nationals’ Ian Desmond and wife Chelsey

Desmond married Chelsey in January 2010. Fun fact: Desmond and fellow MLB player Josh Roenicke are brothers-in-law. Roenicke married Desmond’s sister Nikki in 2010.

Chelsey Desmond took to Twitter in April 2014 to announce that she was pregnant with their third child, and even posted a sonogram for proof!

4. Beach Volleyball Gold Medalist Kerri Walsh Jenning and husband Casey

When Kerri Walsh Jennings won her third Olympic gold in beach volleyball at the London Olympics in 2012, she was playing while she was five weeks pregnant!

She waited to share the news until she came back to the United States and sat down with Matt Lauer on the Today Show six weeks later.

“When I was throwing my body around fearlessly, and going for gold for our country, I was pregnant, and today I’m 11 weeks pregnant,” Walsh Jennings told Matt Lauer.

5. New York Giants’ Brandon Jacobs and wife Kim

Brandon Jacobs scored a touchdown during a game in 2006 against the Chicago Bears and celebrated by sticking the football under his jersey. That was his way of announcing that his wife Kim — who was at the game — was pregnant.

The unsportsmanlike-conduct penalty cost the team 15 yards and the family about $5,000. “It was worth every yard and every penny,” Jacobs said.
