WASHINGTON — D.C. authorities say they are investigating the weekend death of an inmate in the District’s central cell block.
The Washington Post reports the D.C. Department of Corrections said 46-year-old Tawana Johnson was found dead in her holding cell of an apparent suicide around 11:30 a.m. Sunday.
Johnson had been at the jail since just before 4:30 p.m. Saturday on a charge for destruction of property.
