WASHINGTON (CBS DC) – The man considered the official religious spokesman for the Islamic State (ISIS) claims more terror attacks like those committed in France are on the way, reports Rudaw.
The Kurdish news site quotes Abu Asaad al-Ansari as warning “(w)hat happened in France is a lesson to any country that participates in the killing and bombing of the Islamic State.”
The comments came during Friday prayers at the al-Rahman mosque in Mosul, Iraq, says the site.
Al-Ansari promised the Islamic militant group will take its holy war to Europe: “We will start in the Middle East then Europe and other countries. We will take the war to countries where they don’t know who we are.”
“The Islamic State is key to the liberation of every corrupt and infidel country,” he told an audience of worshippers that included ISIS officials, according to a Rudaw reporter who was present.
That journalist also reported that of al-Ansari’s sermon was dedicated to the latest fighting between ISIS militants and the Kurdish Peshmerga forces in northern Iraq.
