LANHAM, Md. (WNEW) — A serious crash involving a tractor trailer and a motorcycle shut down a section of the Capital Beltway Inner Loop near Greenbelt Monday afternoon.
Mark Brady, a spokesperson for Prince George’s County Fire Department, says the accident happened at 3:35 p.m. near Exit 22 of the Inner Loop. All lanes were shut down after the crash.
Authorities have since opened up the lanes.
Traffic was delayed back toward Silver Spring on the Beltway around 5:30 p.m.
Brady says the motorcyclist has life-threatening injuries and a helicopter was called at first, however, rescue workers are now taking the patient to the nearest trauma center as their condition has deteriorated.

The bike could be seen lying underneath the tractor trailer along with a large amount of debris behind the tractor trailer.
