LANHAM, Md. (WNEW) — The U.S. Customs and Border Protection have launched an app for travelers wondering just how long they’ll be waiting in line to cross the border.

It’s called the “Border Wait Time” app and it provides estimated wait times and open lane status at land ports of entry. Wait times for pedestrian and passenger and commercial vehicle crossings are broken down by lane type (standard, SENTRI, NEXUS, FAST, Ready Lane, etc.).

The app can be downloaded for free from Apple’s App Store and Google Play.

Officials say it does not require individuals to register or provide any personal information.
