LANHAM, Md. (WNEW) — The now-famous first date between President Obama and his First Lady Michelle will become the center of a brand new movie.
The film, called Southside With You, will chronicle the day a young Obama convinced Michelle to go on the date.
The First Lady will be portrayed by Tika Sumpter, though no actor has been chosen for the POTUS.
In the now-famous story, Michelle first blew off Obama’s advances when the two worked together at Sidley and Austin, a law firm in Chicago. At the time, she was 25-years-old and he was 27-years-old.
The two shared lunch once, she remembers, where he showed up in a sport jacket with a cigarette in his mouth. When she finally agreed to the date, the two went to the Art Institute, a movie and the South Side for ice cream.
“I kissed her, and it tasted like chocolate,” Obama told O Magazine in 2007.
Filming begins in July in Chicago.
