RICHMOND, Va. (CBS DC) – A pair of strip clubs in Richmond are facing criticism over their “White Trash Bash” over the Thanksgiving weekend, reports WWBT-TV.

“I am white, and I’m not offended by it,” club promoter Mike Dickinson told the station. “It’s all in good fun. It’s just a joke. I think our slogan should have been: ‘Relax! It’s just a joke.'”

But resident Jason Powers complained the promotional flyers, which featured trailers and lots of beer bottles, went too far.

“I live in a trailer park myself now,” he explained. “We are hardworking people and not people to made fun of. I felt that is what the clubs were doing.”

Events included turkey bowling, food fighting, and ladies dancing to country music.

Powers sent a note to the clubs asking for an explanation:”Why do you think it is okay to stereotype hardworking people with this [expletive]?” he asked. “What if they did a Thug Thursday or any other racial night? It would not go good especially in Richmond. It’s not a joke.”

The clubs say they have received no other complaints and they will likely feature similar events in the future.

“We may have found a demographic that we haven’t touched yet,” mused Dickinson. “We may try to do more white trash weekends or country themed weekends.”
