LANHAM, Md. (WNEW) — Many of us haven’t begun to complete our holiday shopping lists, but the United States Postal Service is already gearing up for another big holiday season.

USPS announced Thursday it will soon start delivering packages seven days a week in major cities to keep up with the onslaught of holiday cards and online shopping orders.

The extended deliveries start Nov. 17 and go through Christmas Day.

The Postal Service says it expects to deliver about 12 percent more packages this year than last year’s holiday season.

USPS’ busiest shipment days will be Dec 16-18, when postal workers are expecting about 650 million total letters, cards and packages.

Make sure your package is delivered by Christmas day:

Dec. 2 – First-Class Mail International/Priority Mail International
Dec. 10 – Priority Mail Express International
Dec. 15 – Standard Post
Dec. 17 – Global Express Guaranteed[2]
Dec. 20 – First-Class Mail/Priority Mail (domestic)
Dec. 23 – Priority Mail Express (domestic)
