WASHINGTON (CBS DC) – CBS News is projecting Republican Tom Cotton as the winner of the Arkansas Senate race against incumbent Democrat Mark Pyror.

The race is one of the pickups Republicans need to take control of the United States Senate.

Cotton tied Pryor to President Barack Obama, who is unpopular in the state.

Also in Arkansas, Republican Asa Hutchinson is projected to be the next governor, defeating Democrat Mike Ross.
