RICHMOND, Va. (WNEW/AP) — A lockdown at a suburban Richmond school has been lifted after an altercation involving two students and a knife that sent one of the students to the hospital.
News outlets tweeted about the lockdown at Manchester High School around 9:30 Monday morning.
The student was taken to VCU Medical Center with serious injuries following the incident, according to media reports. The student’s injuries are not considered life threatening.
A spokesman for Chesterfield County schools said the altercation in the band room was “an isolated incident.”
Concerned parents reportedly waited outside the school for the lockdown to end.
Police said one of the students was in custody.
