SILVER SPRING, Md. (WNEW) — Police say a dead body was discovered in Jesup Blair Park Monday afternoon.

The body of an adult black male was found after CSX workers spotted shoes in the park. The metro and CSX tracks run parallel to the park.

Police say the body appears to have been there for about 3 or 4 days and the cause of death is unclear at this time.

As of 5 p.m. Monday, the body is still at the site where it was found because authorities are working on safely removing it.

Police have not released the identity of the person because they still have to notify the family.
