HYATTSVILLE, Md. (WNEW) — A mobile road sign in Hyattsville that was supposed to read “Sobriety Checkpoint” has actually said “Sorority Checkpoint” for the past week or so, according to passersby.

WNEW’s Cameron Thompson talked with a few people who have gotten a chuckle out of the mistake near the intersection of Riggs Road and University Boulevard.

The Maryland State Highway Administration is blaming heat and a battery issue for causing words that have previously been displayed on the sign to pop up. They say it will be corrected by Independence Day.
