LANHAM, Md. (CBSDC) — Fans planning to attend Thursday’s U.S.A. vs. Germany World Cup match may have a difficult time getting to Arena Pernambuco due to massive flooding.
The streets of Recife were underwater just hours before the pivotal game was scheduled to begin. The city has received nearly 3 inches of rain in the past 24 hours, according to CNN. Forecasters expect it will continue throughout the game and into the foreseeable future.
The game will begin as scheduled at 12 p.m. ET, according to FIFA.
Waterlogged fans and journalists have been posting pictures and venting about the ridiculous flooding on Twitter. Some of the shots are staggering.
Perhaps I should have taken flood in the middle of the night in my Recife hotel bathroom as sign of things to come. pic.twitter.com/TPHen9oObt— tariq panja (@tariqpanja) June 26, 2014
