LANHAM, Md. (CBSDC) — This baby just couldn’t wait.

A woman delivered a baby girl along southbound I-270 near Middlebrook Road in Germantown Thursday morning, Maryland State Police tell WNEW.

The infant was born around 6 a.m. before medical units could arrive, Montgomery County Fire spokesman Scott Graham says.

The mother, child and father were taken to Shady Grove Adventist Hospital in Rockville and are doing well.

Thursday’s noteworthy arrival comes just weeks after a woman gave birth to a baby boy on the platform of the L’Enfant Plaza metro station in D.C.
