WASHINGTON (CBSDC) — If you’re in the spotlight it’s not uncommon to be recognized as you go about your daily life. Let’s face it — people are fascinated by celebrities.

But what happens when an onlooker mistakenly thinks a celebrity is actually another celebrity?

Believe it or not, it happens more often then one might think.

Case in point: WWE Superstar Kofi Kingston says he is routinely mistaken for Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III.

Kingston, a four-time Intercontinental Champion, shared stories of mistaken identity with Redskins defensive end Adam Carriker and I prior to Monday Night Raw at the Verizon Center this week.

“I get a lot of RGIII comparisons. I’ve been stopped at several airports,” he joking recalled. “People want to know… ‘Hey! Are you… are you RGIII?'”

Kingston says people will go so far to ask for his autograph thinking he’s actually the Heisman Trophy winning quarterback.

His response is classic.

“I’m just like ‘Come on man!’ We just have long hair. I’ve got dreadlocks, he has twists. They’re not even the same thing!”

For Kofi, the comparisons don’t stop there. The high flying wrestler boasted they are also both “very athletic to say the least.”

The WWE fan favorite also bragged (jokingly) of being faster than Griffin before Carriker asked him for his time in the 40-yard dash. Naturally, it had been so long since he ran one he couldn’t quite remember exactly what he was clocked at.

And while he concedes Griffin is actually the faster of the two, he does proclaim to be the fastest man in WWE.

“I guarantee you that!” he exclaimed.

Kofi will be on hand this Sunday at MetLife Stadium for WrestleMania 29 — easily the company’s biggest event of the year. The Rock and John Cena will square off for the WWE Title in the main event.

4th & Pain with Adam Carriker and Chuck Carroll airs each weekday at noon on and Sunday mornings at 8 o’clock on 106.7 The Fan. Follow the show on Twitter: @4thAndPain.
