WASHINGTON (CBSDC) — The Department of Labor has released a heat safety app for smart phones.
The app, which is available for Android and iPhone operating systems, allows workers and supervisors to calculate the heat index for their worksite. It then will display the risk level for outdoor workers.
The app also reminds workers to take protective measures against heat-related illness such as drinking enough fluids, scheduling rest breaks and monitoring each other for signs and symptoms of heat-related illness.
More information on the app is available on the Dept. of Labor website.
