FORT WASHINGTON, Md. (CBSDC/AP) — A man suspected of killing a northern Virginia community activist is expected to appear in court for a preliminary hearing.
Linwood Johnson of Oxon Hill is charged with first-degree murder in the killing of 53-year old Lenny Harris of Alexandria, Va. Johnson is due in court Tuesday.
Harris was known for being an advocate for the underprivileged in Alexandria. He had been missing since September, and his body was discovered months later. It had been dumped into a well in Prince George’s County.
Officers have said robbery was the motive and that the two men knew each other. Police say Harris was shot to death. There are two other suspects in the case as well, 20-year-old Ivan Newman of Waldorf and 26-year-old Tyron Lewis.
