106.7 The Fan has learned that the Redskins have filled their punting vacancy by acquiring fifth-year veteran Sav Rocca.
Rocca, a 37-year-old Australian, is coming off of a fourth straight season where he totaled at least 73 punts with the Philadelphia Eagles. His longest punt of 2010 soared 63 yards, and he averaged a career best 43.8 yards per punt.
The 6-foot-5, special teams standout landed 28 punts inside the 20 yard-line in 2010, also a career-high.
For his career Rocca has recorded 299 punts and averaged 42.9 yards per kick. He’s had just one punt blocked and had just one of his punts returned for a touchdown.
