The Capitals re-signed center Mathieu Perreault to a one year, two way deal.  Perreault played in 35 games for the Capitals last season and had seven goals and seven assists.  Perreault has played in 56 career NHL games in parts of two seasons and has a career 11 goals and 12 assists.  He has never played in an NHL postseason game.

The 23-year-old Perreault has played in 167 AHL regular season games and has 38 goals and 97 assists.  He has also played in 51 AHL playoff games with 12 goals and 21 assists.

Bruce Boudreau said Perreault is right in the mix for the final one or two spots on the team with Cody Eakin, Mattias Sjogren and Christian Hanson.  He also said, “Mathieu did a lot of great things for us last year.”
