Following the Caps 3-2 loss to the Rangers last night, the Caps flew home for a few days off before Wednesday’s pivotal game four in New York.  The Caps still lead the series 2-1, but most of the talk today were the eight minor penalties they took compared to the four the Rangers had.  Bruce Boudreau said today that the Rangers have targeted Mike Green’s head a few times in the series and thinks the league should look at the Marc Staal hit to the head on Green when Alex Ovechkin scored his goal.

Boudreau mentioned both teams were warned to stop taking cheap shots and said “if you are at home and you warn your kids, not to do something and you don’t follow through with some punishment, they’re going to continue to do it I would assume, that’s how mine were anyway.”  Boudreau also wasn’t happy with the amount of times Michal Neuvirth was hit and run into and there were no calls.  Boudreau did say he thought Neuvirth was stellar yesterday and is “cool as a cucumber.”  Neuvirth was asked what Sean Avery was saying to him during the game and he said, “The crowd was pretty loud, so I couldn’t understand.”

Dennis Wideman didn’t skate today, but Boudreau said he skated hard yesterday and took a day off to rest.  Boudreau also said Wideman’s rate of recovery is quicker than he anticipated. The Capitals practiced today and will practice tomorrow at Kettler Capitals Iceplex.  Today was a very optional practice and 3, 1, 26, 89, 83, 10, 25, 16, 17, 4, 62 were the only ones who participated in it.  Check out what Bruce Boudreau, Brooks Laich, Karl Alzner, Jason Chimera, Michal Neuvirth, Matt Bradley, Scott Hannan, Matt Hendricks and John Carlson had to say today.
