Nothing says it’s Easter like chocolate bunnies, flowering Easter lilies and colorful eggs. For kids, the holiday calls for Easter egg hunts and a special visit from the Easter Bunny. Entertain the little ones and plan a visit to one of these kid-friendly Easter events in the DC metro area.

Grab the kids and head over to the National Zoo where you will find special family activities, live entertainment, animal demonstrations, educational activities and programs, face painting, fun and games with an animal twist and a traditional Easter egg hunt. The annual event, which started in 1891, celebrates African American family traditions and is open to all families in the DC metro region. The National Zoo features many indoor and outdoor animal exhibits including Mei Xiang and Tian Tian, the popular giant pandas, plus great cats, reptiles, amphibians and other creatures. The zoo also features on-site dining, a giant carousel, daily programs and other annual special events.

What better way to celebrate Easter than spending the day with bunnies? Butler’s Orchard in Germantown will host its annual Bunnyland event, which features hayrides, inflatable castles, giant slides, pony and tractor rides and a rubber ducky derby. Let the kids run wild in the “kiddie hayromp,” search for colorful eggs in the Easter egg hunt or see adorable bunnies, lambs and chicks at the petting zoo. Bunnyland will also feature a special visit from the farm’s own country bunny and a goodie basket for the kids. Baskets for the Easter egg hunt will be provided. Food and drinks will also be provided.

For a truly extravagant Easter egg hunt experience, head over to the Easter Eggstravaganza held at Top Golf of Alexandria. The event will feature two Easter egg hunts, a special visit from the Easter bunny plus plenty of games and prizes. Jump around the moon bounce, watch a magic show or enjoy a tasty treat like cotton candy or a snow cone. The Easter Eggstravaganza will also feature a drawing giveaway for a free girl’s and boy’s bicycle. Held at various locations throughout the DC metro area, the annual event is sponsored by the National Community Church.
