Arguably the exact opposite of President Lincoln, Andrew Jackson’s presidency was marred with as much disdain from the public as Lincoln’s. But in the beginning of his military and political career, President Jackson could do no wrong. In this rocking musical, Jackson goes from a young rock star to the “People’s President.” But the public soon becomes disillusioned with Jackson. Adolf Hitler is not typically the first choice for a focus of a play, but he seems to work well when set in a dark comedy. Instead of focusing on the man who brought about one of the darkest periods in world history, George Tabori’s play tells a story of a youthful Hitler as he tries to gain admittance to the Academy of Arts in Vienna. During this time, he becomes friends with Herzl and Lobkowitz, and in spite of this friendship, turns into a monster. SCENA’s production surely won’t disappoint.

There is no such thing as a perfect person, therefore no perfect family. A story of imperfection and secrets, “August:Osage County” explores the dynamic of a family riddled with flaws. From drug addiction, denial, control issues and affairs, the Westons are darker than the Addams Family, but at times just as funny. This Pulitzer Prize-winning play will more than likely make you appreciate the not-so-perfect family you have.
