Date: Every Tues. at 7 p.m.

Every Tuesday night, The Up And Up Open Mic yields its stage to budding rappers, spoken word artists and vocalists. But the main attraction is a performance by comedian Eddie Bryant who can be found on stage every Tuesday through March doing what he does best: delivering side-splitting comedy that leaves the crowd begging for mercy. Bryant is a D.C.-area talent who first burst onto the comedy scene with his appearance on BET’s “Coming To The Stage” in 2004, as a semifinalist in the 2005 Sierra Mist “Next Great Comic” national competition and as a finalist in California’s Bay Area “Black Comedy Competition” in 2008. With a consistent presence in television, the comedian’s rising stardom recently landed him a taping of the season finale of “We Got Next” on Magic Johnson’s cable channel, Aspire. Bryant also recently performed alongside comedian Kevin Hart during an episode for season 18 of BET’s “Comic View,” as well as in 2008 for “Comic View: One Mic Stand.” That same year, Bryant appeared on an episode of “Martin Lawrence Presents: 1st Amendment Stand Up” on the Starz cable network. The much-sought-after comedian tours both nationally and abroad, but makes these regular appearances right here in the nation’s capitol.
